IMMUNE RESPONSES STUDY OF VACCAE (V7) AND M72/ASO1 AS NOVEL TUBERCULOSIS VACCINE: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Gabriella Thimoty - Personal Name;

Tuberculosis for a long period of time has become part of the cause for the mortality rate that burdened numerous patients around the world. Not only physically but also socioeconomically burdened the patient due to the long period of the regimen that the patient has to put through. Nevertheless, recent vaccine candidates for tuberculosis now have been researched that are said to be better able to induce a good immune response and contribute to shortening the period of the treatment. This systematic review summarizes two vaccine candidates, vaccae vaccine and M72/ASO1 vaccine, that have already been tested in TB patients and HIV patients for phase 2 or 3 clinical trials. The summarization process was done by using keywords on two scientific article databases, PubMed and Cochrane Library, to find several related articles or researches that are related to the topic. Based on the findings, it was found that these vaccine candidates have proven to induce an immune response that aids in improving a patient’s condition and shortening the treatment period. The oral vaccae vaccine itself also showed another good quality which is able to affect the weight gain in the tested subjects.
