Identification and Characterization of Flavonoids from Indonesian Calophyllum inophyllum Ethanolic Seeds Extract

Giovanni Batista Christian Daeli - Personal Name;

Traditional or herbal medicine has been extensively employed in society, and Calophyllum inophyllum
is renowned for its broad therapeutic action in handling a number of disorders. As a result, the
present study intended to figure out the compounds detected in the ethanolic extract of Indonesian
C. inophyllum seeds. The seeds of Indonesian C. inophyllum were crushed and were macerated using
>99% purity ethanol, with significant agitation. The phytochemicals, total phenolic content, and total
flavonoid content in the concentrated extract were then tested. It contains steroids, quinones,
alkaloids, terpenoids and TFC and TPC values of 20.6401 mgQE/g and 31.8014 mgGAE/g of the dried
extract, respectively. LC-MS/MS was used to detect three flavonoids from the MRM detection mode: calophyllolide/inophyllum B, inophyllum C, and inophyllum B; and two from the SIR detection mode: calophylic acid and inophyllum E. Further research might be required to determine the flavonoids or other compounds in the Indonesian C. inophyllum ethanolic seeds.
