Early detecon of Superficial Fungal Infecon in Rumah Merah Puh Community and Calvary Orphanage
Skin fungal infecon is the infecon caused by dermatophytes and superficial mycoses. This
infecon is a common public health problem, especially in marginalised children. Many of them live in
unsanitary environments and do not have enough educaon about health and hygiene. This causes a
lack of awareness of this infecon and increases the risk of geng skin fungal infecons. Among these
community, this infecon is not well-known and underesmated which lead to the late detecon. KOH
is the standard technique to detect the presence of fungal skin infecons which has the advantage of
fast detecon of disease, ease to do, and accessible. This study also conducts sample and data collecon
in two marginalised communies which are Rumah Merah Puh and Calvary Orphanage. Data collecon
was conducted to understand the relaonship between infecon of fungal skin disease and quality of life
(QOL). The finding of this study is that age, hygiene, and low awareness influence the infecon rate as
compared to gender, and infecon influences the QOL of parcipants in both communies. In
conclusion, early detecon is essenal in prevenng an increase in infecon rate, thus increasing the
quality of life.
