Embracing the Importance of Health Status Maintanance on Young Adolescents Aged 10-15 Years in Anggrek Adventist School
Adolescent nutrition and health can improve by practicing healthy eating habits, engaging in regular physical activity, and maintaining good personal hygiene. A healthy breakfast and balanced diet can help teens focus better in class, build strong bones and muscles via regular exercise, and improve their self-worth and physical cleanliness through good personal hygiene. Teenagers in Indonesia are facing several issues, such as the rising incidence of breakfast skipping and malnutrition causing non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The goal of this community development program is to raise the awareness, knowledge, attitude, and practice on the children from Anggrek Adventist School's age group of 10-15 years' by educating them on the value of breakfast and upholding the "Isi Piringku" guidelines for a balanced diet, engagement in physical activity, and maintenance of personal hygiene. The program was delivered as a workshop to (n=60 students) over two sessions at Anggrek Adventist School using seminar presentations, quick interviews, quizzes, and icebreakers. A selfadministered questionnaire was used to obtain KAP from the adolescents before and after the program to gauge its success. The program was successful in improving the adolescents' knowledge (7.3 ± 1.465 to 8.78 ± 1.949, p=0.01), attitude (3.87 ± 1.18 to 4.23 ± 1.06, p=0.01), and practice (3.77± 1.29 to 4.21 ± 1.24) scores, which thought to be the cornerstone of developing a healthy lifestyle for adolescents.
