Rice farming : complete with methods to increase rice crop yield

Bradbrook, Julian - Personal Name;

The information within this book will help you maximise your effort and finances with regards to rice farming. Increase your crop yield by 30%, 50% or even 100% using simple methods. Rice is one of the three most important crops in the world with the other two being corn and wheat. An estimated 3.5 billion people, more than half of the world's population, consume rice as a staple food. It is grown in every continent except Antarctica and is the source of livelihood for more than one billion people. Ninety percent of rice production is concentrated in Asia, where rice is grown in roughly 200 million, mostly small-scale rice farms. Two species of rice are currently cultivated: Oryza sativa, or Asian rice, and Oruza glaberrima, or African rice. The former is the most common species grown worldwide, whereas the latter's cultivation is limited to West Africa, from where it is believed to have originated. Chapters include: important advances in rice production, assessing climate, soil & water, crop management, overview of rice production systems, efforts in sustainable rice farming. Discover methods used to increase rice crop yield to archieve a higher quality rice crop along with requiring less resources such as less seeds, less water and even less land to grow the same quality of rice.
