The Breeze Project : Supplier Quality Improvement Program
Food quality is an important aspect to be upheld especially for big companies whose end consumers are babies, such as Danone. Danone or every other company has their own standard of product quality which has to be constantly maintained by everyone in the value chain, including suppliers. However, suppliers’ performances—which consequently affect the company as well—are not always satisfactory or corresponding to the buying firm’s standard. As an effort to develop vendors’ performance at Danone’s line, the SQM PM made a program called the Breeze Project, which includes the main product of supplier report card and side product of supplier training. The supplier report card consisted of four criteria: FTR, closing speed, closing quality, and improvement journey, and was communicated to suppliers monthly effective from September to December 2022. The supplier training was conducted with a topic of validation, verification, and monitoring, and pre-test and pos-test were given to validate the effectiveness of such a training. The effect of the Breeze project is yet to be determined as the data is not sufficient enough to justify it. However, the tests of supplier training showed a significant improvement of before and after knowledge transfer with a p-value of 0.000000146, which indicates that supplier training improves vendors’ knowledge
